Empowering Change Through Inclusive Research & Design

FreeState Justice

At FreeState Justice, my work focused on developing and implementing a comprehensive resource guide centered on queer healthy relationships education. This initiative embodies systems change by shifting the narrative around relationship education to be more inclusive and relevant for minority and marginalized populations. By prioritizing the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals, the resource guide aims to empower these communities through tailored educational materials that promote self-love, mental health, and personal wellbeing as foundational elements of healthy relationships.

This approach not only addresses gaps in traditional relationship education but also fosters a more holistic understanding of what it means to cultivate healthy connections. By integrating concepts of self-acceptance and mental wellness, the guide serves as a vital tool for individuals seeking to navigate their relationships in a manner that is affirming and supportive, ultimately contributing to a broader cultural shift toward inclusivity and empowerment in educational spaces.

Early Years Leadership Diversity Initiative

As part of the Early Years Leadership Diversity Initiative (EYLDI), I contribute to groundbreaking research focused on addressing the leadership gap in early childhood education. My work centered on conducting qualitative analysis of interviews with diverse educators and leaders, with the goal of understanding barriers to leadership opportunities for marginalized communities. This research provided critical insights into the systemic changes needed to foster leadership that reflects the diversity of the student population, ensuring that early childhood education leadership becomes more representative and inclusive.

Throughout this initiative, I worked closely with cross-functional teams to develop actionable recommendations that promote equity-driven change. The findings aimed to drive conversations about transforming leadership pipelines, ensuring that educators from underrepresented communities have pathways to leadership roles. My involvement in EYLDI underscores my commitment to creating inclusive systems, particularly in sectors that shape the formative years of children's development.
